Team Knockout Rules
For guidance only. The full rules are given in the league handbook.
- The first-named team in the draw is deemed to be the home team and its captain is responsible for contacting the
captain of the opposing team to agree a date, time and venue for the match.
- A team may consist of any number of players. Any five of these may play in a match and shall be ranked in
descending grade order starting with board one.
- A player may play for any team, but only that team, for the entire tournament.
- On each board, the time-handicap is determined by the numerical difference in the grades of the
paired players. (See Individual Rules.) The most recent YCA grade shall be used. If no recent
YCA grade is available, the organiser should be consulted at least 24 hours before the match.
- Captains shall toss for colours, the winner will have White on boards 1, 3 and 5 and Black on boards 2 and 4.
- Drawn matches shall be replayed with colours reversed. The second-named team becomes the home team.
(Captains must agree before the return match on how a further draw should be resolved.)
- The captain of the winning team is responsible for sending full details to the organiser. Registered users of this web site
may use the web page provided for the purpose.
- If no result is received by the completion date for the round, the first-named team will be eliminated.
In certain circumstances the organiser may grant an extension, or eliminate the second-named team.
- The entry fee is 50p per team.
- The winning team will hold the Team KO Trophy for one year.
