Calderdale Time-Handicap KO Tournaments 2006

Calderdale Team Lightning Tournament

Calderdale Division 2 winners Todmorden won the 2006 event, held at Belgrave Social club on Monday 24 April, with 18½ points from 25. Brighouse tied with Hebden Bridge A for 2nd place on a score of 15½.

Congratulations to Philip Clarke and Brian Herriot who took the top-score-medals for Boards 2 and 4 respectively.

Huddersfield Team Handicap KO 2005-06

Brighouse lost to Huddersfield by 40-44 in the first round, needing to win 4-2 in games to overcome a 10 point handicap.
In the final game to finish, Robert Broadbent tried hard to convert a slight material advantage into a win, but with both players running out of time, the endgame faded out into a draw.

Huddersfield Rapidplay League 2005-06

Brighouse entered a team in the Bill Lumley Rapidplay this season. This is a handicap competition for teams of six with a time allowance of 25 minutes per player per game.

The disappointment of losing two matches by a single point was forgotten when we beat Chartist in the final match to haul ourselves out of the bottom spot in the league table.
